Roast Records 023 - La Lapa

Different one, as I got this coffee for free. A roastery located in Townsville, Australia, located by the famous strand. I have family over in Townsville, so after my mother came home from visiting, she brought me home some coffee.

Tasting Notes

Cocoa

Honey

Stone Fruit

Origin and Region

La Lapa

Costa Rica

Recommended Brew Method

Long Black

Espresso

Latte

The coffee

To begin, this coffee is a strict hard bean, which means the coffee is harder to grind, but this happens due to the coffee absorbing more nutrients during a longer growth cycle. This coffee is roasted medium to dark.

The taste notes are a heavy dark chocolate and a stone fruit. Best as a long black or in a milk beverage like a latte or flat white. This maybe due to the darker roast profile or the hard coffee bean.

A bit about Chubby Magpie

I couldn't find much on the Chubby Magpie roastery. They are a roastery, cafe and brunch spot by the famous strand in Townsville, East Coast, Australia.

They have a very interesting take on coffee, and that's what makes them great. Being located in a beautiful place surrounded by amazing people.

Summery

To finish, this is a very classic coffee, a bit tough to grind with my hand grinder and a bit of a darker cup. Best as an espresso-based drink.

Priced at a very reasonable £34.72 a kg or AUD-64.00. Hard to get in this country, but for the Australians, please check them out.
