The Bean

My first play with a co-fermented coffee and one that has been recommended to me a lot. Very juicy watermelon flavour, perfect for a pour-over.

In a pour-over this coffee is extremely tea-like and has a high clarity of flavour. The aroma was a bit dull compared to the taste, but that may be down to the recipe I was using.

Not the best espresso, as I think the pressure ruins the watermelon flavour, making the taste quite sour. Neither is this coffee good with milk.

Their History

A story born from pure determination and grit. Cat (the owner and founder of Radical Roasters) started roasting in a shed in Bristol on a small 1 kg roaster after a while borrowing a roaster from Nonis Coffee in Shroud. Before long she opened up her own full-scale cafe and roastery on St Marks Street in Bristol.

A roastery to keep an eye on, as they have great morals and have some excellent coffees consistently coming out.

To end

This watermelon co-ferment is one of the best I have tried but not yet at its full potential. I do believe that Radical Roasters has the capability to do just that.

Priced at £15.00 for 150 grams, they only sell in the smaller sizes due to the scarcity of the coffee.
