Faculty, Piccadilly Arcade, Birmingham
Another great cafe in the heart of the country, Faculty is one of the best Birmingham has to offer. This is my second visit; this most recent visit was after the refurbishment.

Their coffee
To start, a brilliant flat white with excellent texture, basically perfect, as well as some great latte art. This had taste notes of orange peel and almond and chocolate. A very pleasant taste of chocolate with a subtle orange finish.
Yet again I had to have a pour-over to take away; this was a coffee by Module with taste notes of raspberry, Haribo candy and citrus. This was a bright cup with a prominent candy taste.
Faculty's History
Established in 2013 with the goal to serve simple drinks at a high level. Faculty consistently change their menu every fortnight.
From the Faculty website, "We are a small, independently owned, quality-focused coffee and tea shop in Birmingham’s city centre. Our purpose was always simple, to serve exceptional drinks with a friendly service.
Located in the historic Piccadilly Arcade, we serve brewed drinks and a range of food made from our own in-house bakery for you to enjoy in store or to takeaway."
Decor
The cafe has a simple design with a lot of personality. Massive windows surround the coffeeshop with wooden furniture. The drinks are served on small trays with the mug and spoon.
Faculty has a massive retail stand full of different coffees and brew equipment, including the Orea O1 and Timemore hand grinders.
Not short of seating, with more upstairs, so even during busy periods there's always a chance to get a seat.
Value for money
A more expensive place but not bad for Birmingham city centre. The flat white was £4.00, and the pour I had to take away was £9.00, which is expensive, but a 250 gram bag of the coffee I had is £32.00.
Summery
To finish, Faculty coffeeshop is excellent for a quick coffee or an in-house baked good. Located next to the Grand Central train station, it's in a busy spot. They have a vast range of retail coffee to take home, which is always worth visiting to discover new coffees.
