The Brew
Let's start with the brew itself. Stronghold is a balanced coffee, roasted a bit darker than Origin would normally, elevating the chocolate flavour this coffee possesses.
It tastes best in an espresso-based beverage, such as a latte or flat white, because the milk brings out the fudge flavour to the forefront. However, I also tried this in a V60 pour-over to gain a more comprehensive taste impression.
The body of this coffee leans into a heavy dark chocolate taste, leaving a smooth sweet aftertaste like the fudge or brown sugar the tasting notes suggest.
Origins history
Origin was established in 2004 and has since grown to become one of the top speciality coffee roasters in Europe, appearing in both home coffee bars and numerous cafes throughout the continent.
The company's headquarters are located in Porthleven, Cornwall, England, where they roast their amazing coffee and provide barista classes. Origin also has cafes located in London, Bristol and even Edinburgh.
On the 10th of January, Origin announced a partnership with one of the UK's largest coffee shops, Cornish Bakery. This brings an exciting new look to the commercial coffee scene.

Culmination
Finally, if you're searching for a rich, smooth espresso, Stronghold by Origin is a fantastic coffee.
For new at-home baristas searching for something substantial and made by a reputable roaster, I think this is a great place to start, especially at a competitive price of £36.50 per kilogramme.
